24 January 2025
Prospek Lestari, through its group companies Tectra Sdn Bhd and Sustainable & Innovation Engineering Sdn Bhd, continues its long-term commitment to supporting sustainable energy development for rural communities through an off-grid solar PV project at KOA Woh Intake, Tapah.
Project Inception (2019)
The solar PV project at KOA Woh Intake began in 2019 to support the local community, which had not received continuous electricity supply for more than 20 years.
A complete solar PV system was installed for 19 houses, including electrical wiring, and has been operating reliably, delivering significant benefits to the community.
Maintenance and System Upgrade (2024)
In 2024, the technical team involving Sustainable & Innovation Engineering Sdn Bhd, together with academic and technical training partners, carried out maintenance works, system enhancements, and solar PV equipment upgrades.
Technical assessments revealed that the existing lead-acid batteries had reached the end of their service life and were no longer able to store electrical energy efficiently for extended periods.
New Initiative by Prospek Lestari (2025)
As part of continuous improvement efforts, Prospek Lestari, through Tectra Sdn Bhd, approved sponsorship for the next phase of the project with three key objectives:
- Replacement of the existing battery system with lithium batteries
- Installation of a remote monitoring system using Starlink internet
- Evaluation of the performance and long-term reliability of lithium battery technology
Installation works and system commissioning were successfully completed on 23 January 2025. Through the remote monitoring system, electricity generation and consumption can now be monitored in real time from a distance, enhancing data accessibility and maintenance efficiency.
Future Plans
Several follow-up activities are planned, including improvements to system communication and knowledge transfer programmes, as well as advanced maintenance training for the local community.
These initiatives aim to ensure long-term system sustainability while empowering the community with both basic and advanced technical skills.
Prospek Lestari’s Commitment
Since 2019, this project has enabled the residents of KOA Woh Intake to enjoy free and continuous electricity supply.
It reflects the ongoing commitment of the Prospek Lestari Group, together with Tectra Sdn Bhd and Sustainable & Innovation Engineering Sdn Bhd, to supporting sustainable development, social inclusion, and community well-being through clean energy solutions.
