Prospek Lestari recently concluded a knowledge-sharing session at the Engineer & MARVEX Programme (Penang Edition), which was attended by over 130 industry participants.
As part of the programme, Prospek Lestari’s Director, Ir. Ts. Dr. Jasrul Jamani Jamian, was invited to participate as one of the panel speakers in a forum discussion covering key topics including electricity tariffs, the role of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations, and Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE).
Key Discussion Highlights
- Malaysia’s electricity tariff remains among the most competitive compared to other countries
- Clean energy is not inherently low-cost; coal-based power generation remains cheaper in direct cost but carries significant environmental and greenhouse gas impacts
- ESG requirements are increasingly adopted to encourage more effective and efficient energy usage by companies
- From an LCOE perspective, Solar PV combined with BESS can be more cost-effective than Maximum Demand (MD) charges and conventional electricity tariffs for both industrial and commercial users
Following the forum session, Dr. Jasrul Jamani engaged with participants from various industries, leading to insightful discussions and exchanges on practical energy challenges and solutions.
Prospek Lestari extends its sincere appreciation to the organisers in Penang for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful industry dialogue.
