Prospek Lestari recently conducted a technical visit to a 60MW large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility in Sarawak.

The programme began with a two-way technical discussion between Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), focusing on BESS projects implemented at two SEB locations. This was followed by a site visit and a guided tour of the BESS performance monitoring station.

Technical Highlights

A key highlight of the visit was the performance monitoring centre, where participants gained insights into how the BESS is utilised for frequency regulation and spinning reserve.

In-depth discussions were also held on technical challenges, operational strategies, and potential areas for collaboration among the three parties, further strengthening industry-academic partnerships in advancing energy storage solutions.

Prospek Lestari extends its sincere appreciation to Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) for the opportunity to gain valuable insights into large-scale BESS implementation and operational best practices.
