Prospek Lestari Sdn Bhd, through its group companies Sustainable & Innovation Engineering Sdn Bhd and Tectra Sdn Bhd, organised an industry knowledge-sharing session titled “BESS: How It Can Benefit Your Company.”
The session focused on the critical role of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in supporting the future growth of high penetration Solar PV.
The programme provided a platform to share technical insights and industry perspectives on how BESS enables a more resilient, efficient and future-ready electrical system, particularly in line with evolving regulations and grid requirements.
Industry Participation
The session was well received, with approximately 50 industry participants, comprising:
- 50% from Solar PV companies
- 30% from consultancy firms
- 20% senior management and company leaders from around Penang
Notably, many UTM alumni, now holding senior leadership positions within the industry, introduced themselves after the first session. They expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage in open discussions where academic expertise and industry experience converged to address current electrical engineering challenges.
Key Discussion Topics
Highlights of the session included:
- Overview of the New Solar PV Installation Guidelines 2025
- In-depth discussion on the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the challenges ahead
- The role of Energy Management Systems (EMS) in BESS
- How BESS improves power quality, system reliability, and delivers cost savings through electricity bill reduction
Although the session spanned nearly four hours, participants found the time insufficient due to the highly interactive discussions. Feedback received was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants describing the session as engaging, insightful, and dynamic in its delivery.
